Professor Amuwo honored for tireless efforts to increase diversity in public health training and services.
Shaffdeen A. Amuwo, PhD, MPH, associate dean for community, alumni, and government affairs, was profiled in the publication of the National Association of Health Services Executives as well as in the Chicago Defender.
Dr. Amuwo was the recipient of the highest award presented by the Westside Association for Community Action in recognition of "Outstanding Healthcare Leadership, Dedication, and Commitment to Quality Education." Dr. Amuwo presented at the African American Prevention Intervention Network Distinguished Lecture Series held at the Jackson State University Mississippi Urban Research Center which was held live and webcast nationwide .
University of Illinois at Chicago maintains The Amuwo Minority Fellowship Fund, a scholarship program started by the professor to increase diversity in education of public health professionals.

Professor Cox an honored author, lecturer, teacher, and advanced practice nurse.
Dr. Carol Cox, Columbia Pacific University Ph.D., is Professor of Nursing, Advanced Clinical Practice and
Acting Deputy Director, Institute of Health Sciences.
Dr. Cox is the author of several books, including “Physical Assessment for Nurses,” “Enhancing the Practice Experience” and “St. Bartholomew School of Nursing and Midwifery Advanced Practice: Physical Assessment.” She has published scores of research and practice-based articles in peer journals. Her honors include the Excellence in Nursing Research award (2002) and “Who’s Who in American Nursing” (1988-1989).
Dr. Cox says her practice, teaching and research interests are in the field of Advanced Clinical Practice and Complementary-Integrative Therapies as they relate to Acute and Critical Care Nursing. Her work has focused on advancing professional practice grounded in the theoretical and epistemological bases of nursing. And her research demonstrates a philosophy of seeking knowledge that underpins the practice of nursing. Dr. Cox encourages students to join her research projects to enhance their understanding of research method and practice. She has been supervising research students since 1987.

Economics professor one of only 35 selected.
Lewis-Clark State College Social Sciences professor Dave Thiessen has been invited to be a part of the Oxford University Roundtable next August in Oxford, England.
Thiessen is one of 35 academic, business and government leaders from around the world who received an invitation to the 2007 event, which will be held Aug. 12-17 at St. Anne’s College. The theme for the Roundtable will be “History and International Politics: A Guide to the 21st Century.” The Roundtable also will focus on the 18-20th centuries’ influence on today’s globalization in the United State, Europe, Eurasia, China and Japan.
Thiessen earned two baccalaureate and a Master’s degree from the University of Idaho. He earned his Ph.D. from Columbia Pacific University in California.

Jarvis recognized human subjects watchdog.
Dr. Gary Jarvis serves is Director of Brooks Health System’s biofeedback clinic. He earned his B.A. in psychology in 1984 and M.Sc. in health in 1985 from UNF, then went on to earn a Ph.D in neurophysiology from Columbia Pacific University. He has served for the past three years as a member of the UNF Institutional Review Board (IRB), which is charged with ensuring the protection of human subjects in research. He is also an active Shriner and has been featured in the Florida Times-Union.

Ngugi an acclaimed activist.
Columbia Pacific University PhD holder and University of Nairobi professor Elizabeth Wambui Ngugi has worked with both male and female commercial sex workers (CSWs) for 20 years and runs Kenya Voluntary Women’s Rehabilitation Centre (K-Vowrc). Non Governmental Organisation (NGO). Ngugi’s efforts have over the years received international recognition.
Ngugi has become a voice for the downcast and a source of strength to many. Her life and work are a statement of how one person’s life can influence many.
She does not hide her displeasure at those who victimise and unfairly castigate CSWs.
"Instead of shunning them, we should help them. They are family or relatives and considering HIV/Aids, we are in as much danger as they are."

- According to the Czechoslovak Society of Arts and Sciences, Inc. newsletter No. 1/2006, Frank Prochaska, CPU PhD graduate and Professor Emeritus at Colorado Technical University has been awarded a second Fulbright Scholar grant to lecture and research in the creative leadership and innovative management field at Hrodno State University, Belarus.
- Dr. Prochaska received his BFA in Industrial Design from The University of Notre Dame, his MA in Humanic Design from Goddard College, and his Ph.D. in Management from Columbia Pacific University.
- In 1998-2000, he was a Fulbright Scholar at the American University in Bulgaria, at the Technical University in Sofia, and the Bulgarian and Czech military academies, teaching and researching in creative leadership.
- He has received numerous awards: the White House Presidential Award; the USAF Civilian Management Engineering Award for Professional Excellence; the 1986 Outstanding Honorarium Professor at the University of Colorado; and the 1993 Outstanding Professor at Colorado Technical University.
- He is recognized for motivational models, managing change, expanding the creative potential of the mind, and developing specific team building and leadership systems, emphasizing longer-term performance.
- He is known as a dynamic, entertaining professor.

62 Years Overdue, CPU Management Alum, Dr. Ralph Davis Receives the Distinguished Flying Cross
On Sept. 26, 1944, 1st. Lt. Ralph Davis, who'd just finished a run hauling gasoline in his B-24 was flying a mission for the 790th, a squadron that occasionally hauled 80-octane gasoline instead of bombs (to support U.S. ground forces) when his aircraft came under heavy attack.
His bravery and quick thinking that day saved his crew and aircraft, and earned him the Distinguished Flying Cross, but it wan't presented to him until March 22, 2006.
